Foreclosures were up 397.5 percent for the monthy compared withMay 2008, and were up 19.3 percenrt over April 2009, according to the latesr report from RealtyTrac issued Wednesday. Hawaii ranked 15th in the natiomn for foreclosuresin May, up from 23rd in Hawaii had 816 foreclosure filingsx in May. There were 684 foreclosurs filings in April and 164 foreclosuree inMay 2008. Hawaii had a foreclosurd rate of one filing for every 621 according to the latest survey bythe California-base real estate research firm. Nevada agai n had the highest foreclosure rate in the with one filing for every64 households. California had the second highest rate for the followedby Florida.
California had the highesty number of foreclosuresat 92,249. Vermont rankerd 50th, with just six foreclosures at a rate of one filingh forevery 51,906 Nationally, there were 321,48p0 foreclosure filings for the month, down 6 percenty from April and up nearly 18 percentr from May 2008, accordingg to the report.
