The Las Vegas-based company’s generaol counsel informed the Kansas Lotter by phone Thursday that Golden Gaming wouled withdrawits $660 million bid, Keituh Kocher, the Kansas Lottery’s director of gamintg facilities, said Friday. In a Thursday release, Golden Gaming said it expectesd to withdrawits bid. “Given the ongoing turmoil in thefinancial markets, we feel it is prudent to preserve liquidity for other opportunities that may ariser in the future,” Golden Gamingt Executive Vice President Rod Atamian said in the “While we believe in the long-term viabilityu and appeal of our site and project, we are not confidenty in making such a commitment on our own in the currengt environment.

The company had proposed a $687 millio n project in a previous round of which it lost to a project proposex by a joint venture of Kansazs Speedwayand However, the winners withdrew theirr plan, citing economic conditions, so the Kansas Lottery reopened Kansas Speedway and Cordish resubmitted a roughlty $700 million bid Marcu 30, and Penn National Gaming Inc. submittecd a $500 million bid April 1. The Lotterty has until June 30 to review the applicationse andnegotiate contracts, which then will be forwardedf to a .
