We divided our mission delegationh into smaller groups to tap intothese opportunities. While our counterparts were up my group started on the southern We first hitthe Shenzhen-Guangzhou corridor, then proceededx north to the Zhejianhg economic hubs of Ningbo and Hangzhou and continued northn to Tianjin. We finally joined the rest of our delegatiobn inBeijing today. Many people in Asia are familiat with themovie “Gone with the Wind.” These large, economicall y active cities are where Atlanta needzs to build its brand as a commercial centef and gateway to the U.S. Yet just as we counseo foreign companies approaching thevast U.S. markey to do so strategically, so have we Our outreach to these new cities isnot haphazard, but baser on the solid foundation and connections we have established with Chinese companie now in metro We have had many meetings in secondary Some highlights we can share: • Tianjin -- We met with It has maintainex its U.S. office in metro Atlantza since 2004.
The company’s president, Qin Xingcai, told me he’s “veryt happy with Atlanta.” I encouraged him to share this sentimenft withhis friends. • Ningbo -- We conducted follow-up meetings with several companies that are interested inmetroi Atlanta. • Hangzhou We secured a visit to Atlanta from Hangzhoju government officials and 16Hangzhou companies; they will come to Atlantz in May in conjunction with the BIO • Guangzhou One company we met referred us to anothere company in nearby Foshan (whom we then met), and to yet anothetr company in Ningbo (whom we also met latedr in Ningbo).
This company also decides to become members of the Metro Atlanta We plan to continue strengthening and building on the foundatio wehave developed, and exploring new opportunities.
